Lil'Art - Cube 'FLY'

To commemorate 10 years of the Lil'Art art fair - the organisers are going to have a metal structure within which cardboard cubes are suspended to spell out LIL ART.  Each artist got a cardboard cube to decorate as they wish.

I've just finished mine.

They need to have access to the inside of the box in order to fit in the metal suspensions, so the back is tied with button 'feet'..
and I had fun doing the 'hairs' with plastic rope :)

I'm discovering that its fun to try and balance out the acutal controlled volume and then the random 'wrinkles'

I decided to have fun and experiment with giving 'real' volume to the batiks..
this consists of raising up areas with acrylic fiber stuffing, and with folds and stitches..

Its nice to break away from flat surfaces and use the fact that batik is fabric

Someone told me recently that green is a very difficult colour to like; so I made this all green (to see).. :)
